bolivian belly
Good morning!
Its 0400 there, 8 here. I'm enjoying a nice cup of espresso at Alexanders coffee. Deeeelish! Yesterday was a pretty long day... but awesome. I went to the auditorium where residents presented a case, very similar to back home and our M&M (morbity &mortality) but only it was in Spanish and they need an IT guy.I really couldn't follow it. Immediately following was a graduation like ceremony, where residents completed their residency and med students became residents. The ceremony was then concluded with refreshments in the foyer.. ham/cheese sammies, apple cake, chocolate cake and coke. Then, I accompanied Dr. Velasco to the School of Medicine where there was a big presentation. The government donated 50-100 computers and printers. You actuallu might even be able to see me on the news (umsa school of medicine in la paz). I felt like Forrest Gump :) After that presentation we had more refreshments... 2 saltenas and coke. I then headed home for lunch. Yeah... I might come back lookn like a bolivian beast. They continue to feed me here. I had cake for breakfast 2 days in a row.
At home, our maid was there. Shes's an authentic cholita and has the sweetest voice. I don't really know what she says but its so nice to hear her little voice. She made stuffed cyote (zuchinni) and quinoa. Our appetizer was a cheese, vegatable plate. It was pretty amazinig.but I hid my cheese it a piece of my napkin and hid it in my pocket. Lactose intolerance and bolivia don't really mix well. I honestly carn' c celiac magite havingelyoua7c disease... I would starv
